The Need To Belong
It starts so early , that subtle ache to be chosen, to be liked, to be seen as good.
The human story trains us to look outward for our reflection:
Am I enough yet? Do I matter yet? Can I rest now?
We bend ourselves into shapes that match the room we’re in,
and call it safety.
But beneath it all, there’s a deeper pulse whispering,
You belong already. You always did.
Belonging isn’t earned , it’s remembered.
It’s the quiet homecoming that happens
when the soul stops asking permission to exist.
And yet… there’s beauty in the ache too.
Because that longing is proof we once knew what wholeness felt like.
We’re just trying to find our way back to it ,
sometimes through each other,
sometimes through silence,
sometimes through art that speaks the language of our hearts
before we even understand it ourselves.
The paradox is this:
the moment you stop trying to belong,
you start magnetizing everything that vibrates at the frequency of your truth.
You stop seeking a seat at the table,
and realize , you are the table.
Whisper from the In-Between
You were never meant to fit in,
only to fit the shape of love you came to remember.
When you stand in that truth,
the world rearranges itself to meet you there.
Reflection for the Reader
Where in your life are you still trying to fit in
when your soul is asking you to expand out?
What would belonging feel like
if you stopped chasing it and started embodying it instead?
